Did you know that with over 20 years of experience as a specialized fulfillment partner of telecom providers, BNS is the "inventor" of the colored Ethernet ports on first modems.
This was devised at the time to make connections easier for the "do it yourselve packages" that BNS sent to consumers; the blue cable on the blue Ethernet port (WAN), that way a consumer could deliver their Internet themselves faster instead of waiting for a technician. Later manufacturers adopted and standardized this.
But what do the colors of the USB Ports actually mean?
USB connectors are distinguished from each other is by colors, this color coding scheme is not imposed but recommended.
USB 1.0 and 2.0 ports and plugs can be white or black.
USB 3.0 ports and plugs are blue.
USB 3.1 ports and plugs are blue-green.
USB sleep-and-charge ports are often yellow, orange or red. These ports can charge phones or electronic devices even when the computer is turned off.
Quick Charge ports are green. Quick Charge (QC) is a proprietary battery charging protocol developed by Qualcomm. It charges batteries in devices faster than standard USB allows by increasing the output voltage of the USB charger. Quick Charge is used by the multiple product manufacturers of fast chargers, phones and powerbanks .
Huawei Supercharge ports are purple. Huawei has its own technology for fast charging, unlike Qualcomm, Supercharge is (for now) only for Huawei products.
